DESCRIPTION:
The Role You Will Play:
• To support the development, implementation, and maintaining of a Risk Based Inspection (RBI) program for unit areas of responsibility.
• To safely manage the inspection of pressure vessels, tanks, and piping for unit areas of responsibility during unit shutdowns, at regularly scheduled intervals, and as requested in accordance with API-510, API-653, and API-570 codes as well as established procedures.
• To ensure inspections by Inspection Technicians are conducted in a consistent manner and in accordance with industry best practice, noted codes, ASNT NDT standards, and established procedures.
• To review the results of inspections written by Inspection Technicians for consistency and accuracy as well as submit inspection reports for review/approval.
• To coordinate inspection and testing projects requiring the use of NDT vendors. Inspection and testing projects requiring the use of outside firms includes relief valve testing and inspection, equipment helium testing, equipment acoustic emission testing, x-ray inspection, eddy current tube thickness testing, remote video inspections, and shear wave UT flaw detection.
• To develop equipment failure investigation reports including findings, observations, conclusions, and recommendations for incidents as they occur within assigned unit area of responsibility.
• To develop spare equipment justification analyses and perform quarterly spare equipment inspections based upon procedures.
• To write Requests for Change (RFC) for temporary deficiencies associated with inspection findings.
• To coordinate the inspection and testing of repaired or purchased equipment at vendor shops to the proper level (I, II, III, IV) of inspection as defined by the Project/Maintenance Engineer.

REQUIREMENTS:
Background Profile:
• This function requires a Bachelor of Science degree or certification to API-510, 653, and 570 and 5-10 years experience in inspection and testing work, general maintenance, or chemical plant operations.
• Certification to API standards 510 (pressure vessels) and 653 (tanks) is desired but 570 (piping) is a plus.
• Ability to function in PCMS
• Recognition of details and important data required to maintain mechanical integrity of equipment
• Ability to foresee the effects of progressive deterioration against the current equipment condition to predict future failure
• Ability to effectively communicate awareness of equipment deficiencies and corrective actions
• Passion for excellence to ensure activities are completed per best practice, correctly and properly documented
• Possess a mechanical aptitude and the ability to interpret equipment drawings
• General knowledge of non-destructive testing techniques
• Ability to utilize a PC for application of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and FoxPro.
